Founder
Peter Harsy founded Madison Street Energy (MSE) after decades of working on utility-scale renewable energy project development, financing, and an extensive range of real estate transactions. Peter began his career focused on land matters as in-house counsel at a major national real estate institution, The Inland Real Estate Group, where he spent years structuring development, acquisition, and financing agreements.
In late 2010, Peter joined Lincoln Clean Energy (LCE) during its early stages as a startup solar and wind project development company. There, he worked directly with landowners on long-term land leases and project site acquisitions. As General Counsel, he played a pivotal role in LCE’s partnership with I Squared Capital, which provided the capital to construct hundreds of megawatts of operating projects and originate a multi-gigawatt pipeline. This growth ultimately resulted in the sale of LCE for over half a billion dollars to Ørsted, a global energy leader.
Peter’s direct work with hundreds of landowners and developers over the years has given him a deep understanding that every project and financial goal is unique.
While institutional buyers often rely on rigid, standardized transaction models, MSE specifically tailors each agreement to address the individual goals of the landowner or the specific deal structures required by project developers.
Unlike firms from other industries that try to force renewable assets into legal frameworks built for cell towers or billboards, MSE focuses exclusively on clean energy—meaning our agreements respect the unique operational, agricultural, and long-term realities of utility-scale projects.
Furthermore, Peter’s involvement in all aspects of the renewable energy industry has built long-term relationships with a range of institutions, investors, family offices, and capital providers. Backed by established institutional capital relationships, MSE provides the financial capacity to efficiently close transactions of any scale.
